Residential — Halifax, Nova Scotia

Red Brick Bungalow

Seen from above, the roof resolves into a set of shallow planes that step around the plan and meet in hips and valleys rather than running as one span. The courses line through across each of those junctions.

Mid-grey against red brick and white fascia keeps the roof quiet. It reads as a flat, even field, and the brickwork stays the loudest thing on the house.

Twilight Gable House

Two gabled volumes under one dark metal tile roof, photographed at dusk. Roof, fascias and rainwater goods share a single dark tone, so against pale render the whole roof edge reads as one line.
