The photograph is taken close in at the gable, where the roof does its most visible work. A fine tile pattern runs across the pitch, the verge and eaves are finished in the same dark tone as the covering, and the line between roof and red render is one clean edge with no intermediate colour.
A lower wing crosses beneath in a warmer brown, which is where the geometry is easiest to read: two pitches, two tones, one junction. The chimney is capped in metal above the ridge.
