Overview
A chimney needs four different details: an apron at the front, stepped or straight flashings at the sides, and a back gutter that collects everything the roof above sends down onto it. Supplied as a set, folded to the measured dimensions of the stack.
The back gutter is the part that fails, because it is the part most often improvised on site. Ours is formed with a fall to each side and returns tall enough to survive a snow load sitting against the stack for months.
